[Draft. Fill the placeholders and have a solicitor review before taking payments.]

Last updated: [date]

These terms apply when you use masterstorytelling.org, download our materials, create an account or buy a course. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are

Master Storytelling is run by [legal name], [company number, if a company], [address]. Contact: [email]. [VAT number, if registered.]

2. Using the site

You may browse the site and use its free materials as set out in section 4. You must not misuse the site, including by trying to gain unauthorised access, introducing harmful code, scraping content in bulk, or using it in any unlawful way.

We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we do not promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or remove content at any time.

3. What our materials are

Our materials, courses and training are educational. They offer a way of understanding motivation and culture that you can test in your own work. They are not professional, legal, financial, medical or psychological advice, and they do not guarantee any particular result. You are responsible for how you apply them.

4. Intellectual property and use of free materials

All content on this site, including text, frameworks, diagrams, animations, video, audio and downloads, belongs to [legal name] or its licensors, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. Master Storytelling, the VMP triad, Integral Motivation Theory, Synaxis and the Master Storytelling logo are names and marks we use for our work.

You may use our free materials for your own learning, and share them within your organisation for internal, non-commercial purposes, provided you:

  • keep our name, copyright notice and a link to masterstorytelling.org on them;
  • do not change them in a way that misrepresents the framework; and
  • do not sell them or charge for access to them.

You must not use our materials, frameworks or methods to design or deliver paid training, consultancy or courses, or present them as your own, without our written permission. If you would like to do this, please contact us about a licence.

Quoting short extracts with full attribution, for example in reviews, research or teaching, is welcome.

5. Accounts

Some parts of the site require an account. You must give accurate details and keep your login private. Course access is personal to you and must not be shared, unless you have bought places for named members of your organisation. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.

6. Buying courses

Prices are shown on the site in pounds sterling [including / excluding] VAT. Payment is taken through [payment provider] when you order. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email.

Online courses give you access for [period, e.g. 12 months / the lifetime of the course] from purchase. Live or cohort training takes place on the dates shown when you book. We may need to change dates or facilitators for reasons beyond our control; if so, we will offer you another date or a full refund.

7. Cancellation and refunds

If you are buying as a consumer, you have 14 days from purchase to cancel and receive a full refund. The exceptions are:

  • Online courses. If you ask for immediate access, you agree at checkout that access starts straight away and you acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once it does.
  • Live training booked within 14 days of its start. If you ask for the service to begin within the 14 days and then cancel, we may keep a proportionate amount for any part already delivered.

Outside the 14 days, for live training: [for example, a full refund if you cancel at least 14 days before the start date, 50% between 14 and 7 days, and no refund after that. You may transfer your place to a colleague at any time.]

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your right to a remedy if a course is not as described.

If you are buying for an organisation, the consumer cancellation rights above do not apply. In-house training and consultancy are provided under a separate written agreement.

8. Links to other sites

The site links to other websites and embeds content from services such as Vimeo. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

For consumers, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses.

For business customers, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill, or for indirect loss. Our total liability in connection with any purchase is limited to the amount paid for it.

10. Your personal information

We handle personal information as described in our Privacy notice and Cookies policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site when you buy a course applies to that purchase.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings there.
